LADI KWALI COMMUNITY CENTRE:INTEGRATION OF SOCIAL INTERACTION DESIGN STRATEGIES
Abstract
The integration of social interaction design strategies in community Centre architecture aims to foster inclusive, collaborative, and dynamic environments that encourage social interaction and community engagement. This study explored how architectural features, and spatial configurations can enhance social connections, cultural exchange, and collective activities within a community Centre. The design prioritized open spaces, multipurpose halls, and accessible layouts, ensuring equitable usability while promoting opportunities for informal and formal interactions among diverse users. This research is aimed to design a community Centre that integrates social interaction design strategies The study examined, identified and evaluated social interaction design principles and their architectural requirements, and designed a community centre that integrates these principles. This study employed a qualitative method approach. Architectural software such as Revit Autodesk and Lumion was employed to develop the design and presented in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawings. A sample size of 15 case studies of community Centres where randomly selected and data was obtained through an observation checklist. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in percentages, figures, tables, and charts. Furthermore, the research concluded that community-centred design presents actionable strategies for fostering social interactions through architectural innovation. The study recommended that future community centre designs adopt social interaction design strategies to realize the architectural potential for vibrant, inclusive, and socially cohesive environments
