Abstract

ABSTRACT Study examines the topic “Perception of Office Technology and Management lecturers and students on the effect of inflation on the academic activities of students”. Sixteen Lecturers and forty-five students of the OTM department constitute the population of this study. This study takes a critical look at the effects of inflation faced by OTM students. It also focused on four key areas of students’ academic engagement: classroom base-activities, practical-based activities, research-based activities, and extracurricular activities. The method and research design used was the survey design. The questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit data from the respondents from the area of the study. The data collected from respondents was analyzed using mean rating on five-point likert scale. Inflation has negatively affected students’ ability to afford writing materials, textbooks, and handouts. Many students now share materials or depend on borrowed notes, which reduces efficiency in learning.
