PHYTOCHEMICAL AND ANTIBACTERIAL ANALYSIS OF AGARICUS BISPORUS (EDIBLE MUSHROOM) ON SELECTED BACTERIA SPECIES
Abstract
ABSTRACT
An analysis was carried out to investigate the Phytochemical and antibacterial activities of Agaricus bisporus, fruiting bodies of A. bisporus were extracted by maceration method using distilled Water, Antibacterial activity of methanol and acetone extract of A. bisporus were determined in-vitro against two pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus using the agar well diffusion method, using different concentration, 25%, 50% 75% and 100% methanol and acetone extracts showed Potent antibacterial activity against tested bacteria, methanol extract Showed maximum Inhibitory effect against growth of each of the test bacterium, the presence of these Phytochemicals reiterates the Importance of this plant in the field of traditional medicine Practice, there is a need for further studies to Isolate and Characterize the antibacterial moieties in this fungus for Practical disease Control measures.
