Abstract

Domestic violence remains a serious social problem affecting individuals and families across Nigeria. The media plays a vital role in shaping public perception and attitudes towards social issues, including domestic violence. This study examined the impact of media exposure on perception and attitude towards domestic violence in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The survey research method was adopted, using questionnaires to collect data from residents of the study area. Findings revealed that exposure to media content such as radio, television, social media, and newspapers significantly influences how people perceive domestic violence. The study also found that increased media exposure promotes awareness, discourages acceptance of domestic violence, and encourages victims to speak out. The study concludes that the media is an effective tool in changing negative attitudes towards domestic violence and recommends increased media campaigns and sensitization programs.
