IMPACT OF RECRUITMENT PROCESSES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PRIMARY HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN DASS LGA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The research titled “effects of unemployment on youth restiveness in Alkaleri’ unemployment remains one of the major developmental challenges confronting Nigeria, with its persistent rise despite periods of economic growth. Youths, who constitute a significant proportion of the Nigerian population, are most affected, leading to widespread poverty, insecurity, and restiveness. The inability of the government’s intervention programmes such as NDE, NAPEP, SURE-P, and YOUWIN to address unemployment effectively has worsened the situation, particularly in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Youth restiveness in Nigeria has manifested in violent crimes, kidnappings, vandalism, cultism, and political thuggery, thereby threatening national peace and stability. This study examines the relationship between unemployment and youth restiveness in Alkaleri L.G.A., assesses how unemployment contributes to social unrest, and analyzes its socio-economic effects. The research adopts a case study approach, targeting unemployed youths and stakeholders within the L.G.A. Findings are expected to provide insights for policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners in addressing unemployment-induced restiveness and promoting youth empowerment for sustainable development in Nigeria.
