Abstract

Access to accurate and timely weather information is essential for agriculture, transportation, disaster management, and daily planning in Nigeria. This project presents a Weather Forecasting System, a web-based application that aggregates and displays weather data from multiple sources, including OpenWeatherMap and AccuWeather, within a unified and user-friendly interface. The system standardizes incoming data across key metrics such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed to ensure consistency and comparability, while providing forecasts for current conditions and a five-day period. These forecasts are visualized using Dash and Plotly through interactive charts that enable users to compare weather data across different locations. The application incorporates robust error-handling mechanisms and graceful degradation to maintain functionality when some external data sources are unavailable. Emphasis is placed on user experience through an intuitive interface, minimal interaction steps, and responsive visualizations. Overall, the system demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating multiple data sources with real-time visualization to deliver a reliable, accessible, and informative weather forecasting tool for users in Nigeria.
