Abstract

ABSTRACT This study assessed the impact of Management Information Systems (MIS) on employee performance in United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Bauchi Branch. It focused on three dimensions of MIS: Decision Support Systems (DSS), Transaction Processing Systems (TPS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The main objective was to determine the extent to which each of these systems impacts staff productivity and decision-making efficiency. The study adopted a quantitative research design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 51 employees, out of which 44 were valid and usable. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Multiple regression analysis was conducted using SPSS version 26. The findings revealed that DSS (β = .42, p < .05), TPS (β = .35, p < .05), and ERP (β = .38, p < .05) significantly influenced employee performance. These results indicate that MIS dimensions collectively contribute to higher work efficiency and improved service delivery. The study concluded that integrating advanced MIS tools supports timely decision-making and enhances staff output in the banking sector. It recommends sustained investment in MIS infrastructure and continuous staff training to maximize system use. This study contributes to knowledge by providing evidence from a Nigerian bank on the practical value of MIS in improving staff performance.
