Abstract

This study focuses on examining the relationship between environmental accounting disclosure and financial performance of quoted manufacturing firms in the Nigerian Exchange Group. The key variables include various forms of environmental disclosure (such as ECRDQ, EIRDQ, EPDQ, and EPEDQ) and financial performance {measured by Earnings Per Share (EPS)). Ten (10) manufacturing firms quoted in the Nigeria Exchange Group (NEG) for the period of (2018-2022) have been selected as sample size for this study. Pooled Ordinary Least Square (POLS) model was used for running the regression model of this study. The findings, ECRDQ, EPDQ, and FSIZ were positively and significantly related to earnings per share, while EPEDQ was negatively related to earnings per share. These findings suggest that environmental policies, environmental performance, and firm size may have a positive impact on earnings per share, while environmental performance disclosure may have a negative impact on earnings per share. The study recommends that Environmental disclosures should be made mandatory for firms to give a true and fair view of corporate financial performance and position of firms.
