Abstract

The study examined the effect of media and cultural imperialism on the cultural value of Nigerian youth, using Enugu metropolis as a focus area. The study was anchored on the Cultivation theory. The researcher employed the survey research method in executing the study. Questionnaire was used as the measuring instrument. Data were analysed using the simple percentage formula and the hypotheses were tested using the Chi-square statistical tool. Findings revealed that Enugu urban residents prefer western media content to local media content. The researcher recommended amongst others that the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) should restrict the level of presence of foreign television stations in Nigeria
