DYNAMIC MODELLING AND CONTROL OF DIRECT CURRENT (DC) MOTOR USING PROPORTIONAL INTEGRAL DERIVATIVE (PID) CONTROLLER
Abstract
This research presents simulation-based analysis of a constant speed dc motor using MOSFET, highlighting the importance of proportional integral derivative (PID) controller for speed control of dc motor is done. Many industrial applications required high performance rotating electric drives. A proposed DC drive has a precise speed control, stable operation in complete range of speed and good transient behavior with smooth and step less control. Design of PID parameters is important because these parameters have a great impact on the performance of control system. This research design PID controller to supervise and control the speed response of the dc motor and MATLAB program is used for simulation of PID controllers. The motor parameters are calculated practically in the power electronics laboratory. Arduino UNO microcontroller motor drivers are used for controlling the speed and torque of the motor using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) according to the error term. Mathematical models of the proposed PID tuning methods were conducted by MATLAB Simulink. All the results highlighted that PID tuning and proposed algorithms for controlling this motor produce dynamic responses with acceptable overshoot
