EFFECTS OF HESPERIDIN ON ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIC ACTIVITY OF THE HEART IN ANGIOTENSIN II INDUCED TOXICITY IN FEMALE WISTAR RAT
Abstract
jis study aimed to investigate the effects of hesperic
art in angiotensin II-induced toxicity in female Wlstar
vided into six groups: Control (Group 1), AngmtensmI I
week, while hesperidin (50 mg/kg) and telmisartan (2 mg/kg) were administered orally dally for o
our weeks. Electrophysiological parameters such as R-R, P-R, QRS, and QT intervals were
wssessed using ECG. Results showed that hesperidin administration significantly modulated the RR,
P-R, QRS, and QT intervals compared to the Angiotensin II group, with marked improvement
in cardiac rhythm and conduction. Hesperidin-treated rats exhibited a protective éfi’ect on heart
rate, with significant increases compared to the Angiotensin II group but reductions compared to
telmisartan alone. Histological analysis revealed structural changes in the heart, indicating varying
degrees of myocardial damage across groups. Angiotensin Il induced significant cardiac infarction
and cardiomyopathy, while hesperidin supplementation demonstrated cardioprotective effects,
reducing myocardial degeneration and hypertrophy. In conclusion, hesperidin offers potefifial
cardioprotective benefits by stabilizing electrophysiological parameters and improving heart
morphology in angiotensin II-induced toxicity. These findings suggest that hesperidin may have
therapeutic applications in preventing angiotensin II-related cardiovascular complications.
