FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY AND TAX ADMINISTRATION IN NIGERIA
Abstract
This project explores the intersection of Financial Technology (FinTech) and tax administration in Nigeria, highlighting the transformative impact of digital financial services on the country’s tax system. With the rapid growth of FinTech, Nigeria's financial landscape has experienced significant changes, including improved financial inclusion, enhanced payment systems, and increased transparency. The study examines how these innovations have influenced tax administration, particularly in terms of tax collection efficiency, compliance, and revenue generation. The project investigates the adoption of digital platforms for tax payment, the role of data analytics in identifying tax evasion, and the integration of FinTech solutions in streamlining government processes. Additionally, it addresses challenges such as regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity concerns, and the digital divide. The findings provide insights into how leveraging FinTech can strengthen Nigeria’s tax administration, improve public revenue, and contribute to the broader goal of economic development. The project concludes with policy recommendations for optimizing the synergy between FinTech and tax administration in Nigeria.
