ASSESSMENT OF WHOLE BLOOD CLOTTING TIME AND PLATELETS JOUNT AMONG TEENAGERS AT ELELE RIVERS STATE
Abstract
Whole blood clotting time and platelet count are essential hematological parameters used to assess the body’s ability to prevent excessive bleeding. This study was conducted to assess whole blood clotting time and platelet count among teenagers in Elele, Rivers State. A cross-sectional study design was adopted, involving apparently healthy teenagers within the age range of 13–19 years. Blood samples were collected using standard venipuncture techniques and analyzed using established laboratory methods. The results obtained were compared with normal reference values. Findings from the study provide baseline hematological data and contribute to early detection of clotting abnormalities among adolescents.
