Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examined the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the performance of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Microfinance Bank, Bauchi. The specific objectives were to assess the effect of ICT adoption on service delivery and operational efficiency, evaluate its influence on customer convenience and satisfaction, and determine its contribution to security and reliability in financial transactions. The study adopted a survey research design, and data were collected from 300 respondents selected through convenience sampling. A structured questionnaire designed on a 5-point Likert scale was used as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0, employing descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The findings revealed that ICT adoption has significantly improved service delivery, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the security of financial transactions within the bank. The study further established a strong positive relationship between ICT adoption and the overall performance of the bank. Based on these findings, the study concludes that ICT serves as a transformative tool that enhances efficiency, strengthens transaction security, and improves customer experiences. The study recommends continuous investment in ICT infrastructure, regular staff training, and increased customer awareness of digital banking services to sustain and improve performance levels.
