Abstract

This study is focused on identifying the motivational factors that exist in the Cross River University of Technology with particular emphasis on faculty of management sciences and to find out how they are applied and their effect on staff performance. The problem suspected to be responsible for the continued unimpressive performance of staff, is lack of motivation. To find out the possible causes of these problems two hypotheses were postulated. To test the hypothesis, information was collected through responses to questionnaires and personal interview. The data so collected were taken into account, edited, analyzed and presented in tables. The findings of this study reveal that motivation, efficient personnel management strategy, enhanced training and planning lead to higher and efficient productivity. As a result, it was recommended that staff should be trained and motivated for effective productivity.
