Abstract

This research explores how Instagram activity relates to the mental health of female university students. Employing a quantitative design, we surveyed 385 students from Godfrey Okoye University and the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, using a structured questionnaire. Data analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between Instagram engagement and elevated symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. The findings indicate that high frequency and intensity of Instagram use are linked to deteriorating mental health. The study therefore advises female students to monitor their Instagram use and adopt strategies that reduce its potential harm.
