Abstract

This study examines the impact of school inspection on general school operations in six (6) primary schools head teachers and four (4) principals for junior secondary schools in Konduga local education authority, School inspection is a quality assurance mechanism used to evaluate school performance, identify area for improvement, and provide support for school. The study reveals that school inspection has both positive and negative impact on school operation. Positive impact includes, improving on teaching and learning outcomes, enhanced accountability & transparency, and better resource management. In addition, it increased parent engagement, and improved school infrastructure facilities. However the negative impacts include stress and anxiety among teachers and administrators, as results of overemphasis on inspection outcomes rather than student learning. It limited the focus on support and improvement and this lead to potential for bias in inspection reports and increase workload for teachers.
