PENSION FUND ASSETS AND FINANCING OF INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project titled “Pension Fund Assets and Financing Infrastructural Development in Nigeria” aims at finding the investment patterns of Pension Fund Assets in Nigeria, determining the influence of Pension Fund Assets investment on infrastructure financing in the development of Nigeria, investigating the performance of pension fund assets management in Nigeria, and analyzing the relationship between pension fund assets and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Nigeria.
The project employed the use of secondary data collected from various sources. The data was analyzed using correlation and regression analysis with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
The study revealed that Pension Fund Assets (PFA), which is a key determinant of infrastructural development, have a positive relationship and influence on economic growth in Nigeria. Pension fund assets were positively and highly correlated to GDP. This implies that there should be more emphasis on the management of PFA in infrastructure financing.
The study also recommends that government should encourage investment in infrastructure projects to boost the GDP of Nigeria. Reports should be produced regularly (monthly, quarterly and annually) to ensure transparency and accountability in the system.
