Abstract

ABSTRACT Beneficial plants have increasingly evolved in developing countries in recent years as a result of its safety and low or no harmful side effects of its usage, mostly when compared to synthetic drugs. Consequently, it is thoughtful to exploit novel treatments that are more active and reasonably priced from plant-based alternatives. These plants' healing efficacy is the result of few chemical combinations that have fixed biological effects on humans. Soursop, or Annona muricata, is a plant that is primarily found in southern Nigeria. Most often, it is used up as fresh fruit. It is typically grown in courtyard gardens. The fruit weighs between 0.5 and 2 kg, and the tree can yield up to 10 tons per hectare. In this study, an attempt has been made to analyze mineral and vitamins contents of the Fruitsap of Soursop (Annona muricata). The result for the minerals contents of Annona muricata revealed that Calcium (0.63±0.04) has the highest concentration fellow by Phosphorus (0.59±0.08), Potassium (0.48±0.08), Sodium (0.37±0.10), Zinc (0.37±0.29) and Magnesium (0.06±0.01) having the least concentration. This result is indicative of the photosynthetic activities which occur more within the leaves of the plant. This result is consistent with the finding of Bibbins et al., (2017). The occurrence of calcium and other minerals contents of Annona muricata suggest that the plant would be useful for both dietary and health impact to human race.
