Abstract

Abstract This research project investigates the effect of compensation policies on employee performance at Access Bank Ibadan. With the aim of understanding how various compensation strategies influence employee motivation, satisfaction, and overall performance, the study employed a structured questionnaire distributed to 50 employees at the bank. The research focused on four key questions:the current compensation policies at Access Bank, the relationship between these policies and employee performance, the challenges associated with their implementation, and recommendations for improvement. Findings reveal that Access Bank's compensation policies are largely perceived as fair, comprehensive, and competitive within the banking sector. A significant majority of respondents acknowledged a positive correlation between effective compensation policies and enhanced employee motivation and performance. However, challenges such as budget limitations, discrepancies in pay for similar roles, and a lack of clarity in performance-based compensation criteria were identified as barriers to effective policy implementation. The study concludes that while Access Bank has a solid compensation framework, there are areas requiring improvement. Recommendations include increasing transparency in communication about compensation, introducing more performance-based incentives, conducting regular compensation reviews, and addressing pay equity issues. By implementing these strategies. Access Bank can enhance emplovee performance, satisfaction, and retention, ultimately contributing to a more engaged and productive workforce. This research underscores the critical role of well-structured compensation policies in driving employee performance and provides valuable insights for both banking institutions and human resource practitioners seeking to optimize their compensation strategies.
