IMPACT OF ADOPTING AI EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING BASIC SCIENCE IN AKWA IBOM STATE UNIVERSITY
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to examine impacts of adopting artificial intelligence educational technologies in teaching integrated science in Akwa Ibom State University. In order to achieve this purpose, three objectives, three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The design for the study was a descriptive survey design. The population of the study consisted of all the Student from Basic Science Unit in Faculty of Education Akwa Ibom State University in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area. A sample size of 100 students was used for the study. Simple random sampling technique was used for selection of the integrated science students for the study. The researcher developed instrument entitled “Impact of Adopting AI Educational Technologies in Teaching Integrated Science Questionnaire (IMAIETTISQ)” was used for data collection. The instrument was subjected to face validity. A reliability coefficient of .89 was obtained for the instrument using Cronbach Alpha formula. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while independent t-test was used to test hypotheses one and two and Chi-square test was used to test hypothesis three. The major finding of the study revealed that there is high level of awareness of Artificial Intelligence(AI) educational technology among integrated science students; there is high level of utilization of Artificial Intelligence(AI) educational technology among integrated science students; and there is significant impact of adopting Artificial Intelligence(AI) educational technology on teaching and learning of integrated science. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that there is significant impact of adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) educational technology on teaching and learning of integrated science in Akwa Ibom state university. It was recommended among others that, Science education lecturers should regularly integrate Artificial Intelligence Educational Technology tools into their teaching to enhance the effectiveness of science instruction at the university level.
