INFLUENCE OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTATION ON PROJECT PERFORMANCE IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS (A CASE STUDY OF FIDEI POLYTECHNIC, GBOKO, BENUE STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines the influence of contract documentation on project performance in building construction projects, using Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko, Benue State as a case study. The research investigates the types of contract documents used, their effects on project cost, time, and quality, and the challenges associated with poor or incomplete documentation.
Data for the study were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and site records from selected construction professionals involved in building projects within the institution. The data were analyzed using simple statistical tools such as frequency tables and percentages.
The findings reveal that proper and complete contract documentation significantly improves project coordination, reduces disputes, minimizes delays, and enhances overall project performance. The study therefore recommends that construction stakeholders should ensure adequate preparation, proper management, and strict compliance with contract documents to achieve successful project delivery.
