TIME SERIES MODELLING OF THE COST OF NIGERIA’S COMMUNICATION SECTOR
Abstract
Modeling of Nigeria's communication sector was the main focused of this research. This research work investigated the stationarity of the univariate time series. Test of a unit root by method of Dickey Fuller further show that the original data were not stationary, but were made stationary after the first differencing. The ACF and PACF of the stationary time series were plotted and several ARIMA models were fitted to the stationary time series data of communication sector of Nigeria economy like ARIMA (1 1 1) and ARIMA (2 1 1). At the end of the analysis, the best model was obtained through the use of AIC and SIC information criteria, and it was discovered ARIMA (1 1 1) outperformed other models. Hence, this research work proposes proactive measures that can always guarantee increment in the communication sector Nigeria, so as to compete favorably with other sectors like service, agriculture, oil and gas sectors, etc.
