Abstract

ABSTRACT This project focuses on the design and implementation of a smart, cost-effective, and reliable security alarm system to address the growing concerns of burglary and unauthorized intrusion. The system is built around an Arduino Uno microcontroller, which integrates an ultrasonic sensor for motion detection and a Light Dependent Resistor `(LDR) to automatically activate the system in low-light conditions ("Night Mode"), thereby optimizing power usage and reducing false alarms. Upon detecting an object within a predefined range, the system triggers a multi-layered alert comprising an audible buzzer, a visual flashing LED, and a relay capable of activating higher-power devices like sirens or lights. A dual-power supply system ensures operational continuity during power outages. The prototype was successfully tested, demonstrating fast response times, accurate intrusion detection, and reliable performance. The project achieves its aim of providing an affordable and efficient automated security solution, serving as a viable alternative for homes and small businesses. It also establishes a foundation for future enhancements, including GSM for remote alerts and IoT for smart monitoring.
