Abstract

ABSTRACT In the contemporary society, effective communication across language barriers is crucial. The use of Translator Apps makes this possible. It converts written or spoken words from one language into another so that it can be understood by its intended audience. However, in some cases, translation by these Apps are usually incorrect due to issues like poor contextual comprehension, complexity of the source text and ambiguity of poly-semantic terms. In order to address these, AI-based translators using transformers were introduced to enhance AI abilities to understand and process context in a given expression so as to deliver the intended meaning. Therefore, this research was designed to create AI-based translators using trnsformers. The stages of AI development lifecycle were adopted as the methodology for the study through which poor contextual comprehension and other translation issues mentioned above were addressed.
