Abstract

ABSTRACT This explores the framework surrounding social media defamation in Nigeria and United Kingdom. With the rapid growth of social media platforms as an essential means of communication, the relevance of defamatory content disseminated through these channels has become a significant concern in both jurisdictions. The primary aim of this study is to examine the similarities and differences in the laws governing defamation on social media platforms in Nigeria and United Kingdom. Through a comprehensive review of relevant statutes, case law and scholarly literature, this research provides insights into the legal principles and precedents that shape defamation claims arising from online communications.
