THE EFFECT OF TIME MANAGEMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE (A STUDY OF ADESEUN OGUNDOYIN POLYTECHNIC, ERUWA)
Abstract
This study examines the effect of time management on organisational performance, using Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic as a case study. Effective time management is increasingly recognised as a critical factor influencing productivity, efficiency, service delivery, and goal attainment in organisations. The study adopts a descriptive research design, with data collected through structured questionnaires administered to academic and non-academic staff of the institution. The data were analysed using appropriate statistical tools, including descriptive statistics. Findings reveal that proper planning, prioritisation of tasks, punctuality, and effective scheduling have a significant positive impact on organisational performance. Conversely, poor time management practices were found to contribute to inefficiency, work delays, and reduced productivity. The study concludes that effective time management is essential for improving organisational performance in tertiary institutions. It therefore recommends that management should promote time management training, enforce adherence to work schedules, and create supportive policies that encourage efficient use of time among staff to enhance overall institutional performance.
