Abstract

Effects of cement dust on soil microbial dynamics in Mkpat Enin was assesses using standard Microbiological and Analytical procedures. The result reveals the microbial counts of ranged from 1.3 x 106 to 1.99 x105 Cfu/g for THBC, Total fungal counts from 1.0 x 105 to 9.0 x 105 and total Actinomyces counts ranged from 1.04 x 105 to 8.3 x 105 Cfu/g. The bacterial isolates include Bacillus sp., Enterobacter sp., Klebsiella sp., Micrococcus sp., Clostridium sp. and Pseudomonas sp. and the fungi isolates identified were members of genera include, Fusarium sp., Microsporum sp., Trichoderma sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp. and Aspergillus sp. The physicochemical analysis results reveals Temperature (36.00oC) pH (4.60-8.10), total Nitrogen (156.00-460.02%) Calcium (3.26-6.63mg/L). The heavy metal concentration reveals Manganese (612.17) as the highest concentrated heavy metal and while cadmium (1.06) was the least concentrated heavy metal and was not detected in the control soil while the particle size analysis reveals Sand (88.45), Clay (12.68) and Silt (6.00) which depicts a Sandy Clay soil.
