Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the combined effect of Gongronema latifolium on serum lipid profile of testosterone propionate-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia in wistar rats. Twenty-eight (28) male wistar rats weighing between 200-300g were used for this experiment and were grouped into four (4) groups of seven (7) animals each. Group I animals served as normal control and received the vehicle (0.4ml of distilled water), Group II to IV animals received subcutaneous injection of 3mg/kg body weight testosterone for two (2) weeks after which Group III animals were treated with 150mg/kg Gongronema latifolium and Group IV animals were treated with 5mg/70kg body weight finasteride for four (4) weeks. The result obtained showed that all the groups recorded significant differences (p
