Abstract

This paper explores the multifaceted problems faced by these media outlets, including issues of political interference, funding constraints, technological obsolescence, and credibility concerns among the populace. It also examines the prospects for reform and growth, emphasizing the potential for modernization through technological advancements, policy reforms, and increased independence from political influence. The study underscores the importance of strategic interventions to enhance the effectiveness, credibility, and relevance of government-owned broadcasting media in Nigeria, thereby contributing to a more informed and engaged citizenry. Ultimately, the paper advocates for a balanced approach that leverages the strengths of government media while addressing its weaknesses to foster a resilient and credible broadcasting sector that can meet the demands of Nigeria's dynamic socio-political environment.
