Abstract

The study assessed resilience and adaptation strategies of rural households to climate change in Sardauna L.G.A, Taraba State. A descriptive survey design was used with 200 respondents selected through stratified sampling from Gembu ‘B’, Kakara, and Nguroje wards. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests. Findings showed high awareness (95%) of climate change, with major impacts including erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, and droughts, leading to reduced agricultural productivity and food insecurity. Adaptation strategies included crop diversification, drought-resistant crops, and non-farm activities. Key resilience drivers were education, financial resources, and social networks, while constraints included limited credit access and weak government support. The study recommends improved microfinance access, climate-smart agriculture, and stronger institutional support.
