AN AI BASED FACE DETECTION SYSTEMAND RECOGNITION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the field of computer vision, particularly in facial recognition and detection applications. This project, titled “An AI-Based Face Detection SystemandRecognition,” focuses on designing and developing an intelligent system capable of accurately identifying and verifying human faces from digital images or live video streams. The system leverages advanced machine learning and deep learning algorithms, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), to extract unique facial features and match them against stored templates in a database. The project is divided into two main modules: face detection and face recognition. The detection module employs techniques such as the Haar Cascade Classifier or Multi-task Cascaded Convolutional Networks (MTCNN) to locate and isolate human faces in various lighting and background conditions. The recognition module utilizes pretrained deep learning models such as FaceNet, VGGFace, or DeepFace to convert facial images into numerical embeddings that allow for accurate comparison and classification.
The proposed system aims to achieve high precision, robustness, and real-time performance. It has practical applications in security systems, access control, attendance monitoring, law enforcement, and personal device authentication. Furthermore, it enhances automation by reducing human intervention in identity verification processes.Through experimental evaluation, the AI-based face detection system and recognition demonstrates strong reliability even under challenges such as pose variation, partial occlusion, and different illumination levels.
