ACADEMIC SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Effective communication and organized access to academic schedules are essential in educational institutions, yet many systems lack the ability to manage such information efficiently. This project introduces the Academic Schedule Management System (ASMS), developed specifically for the student body of Godfrey Okoye University to enhance how class schedules, examination timetables, and academic events are generated, accessed, and managed. The system applies object-oriented analysis and design principles, incorporating UML diagrams such as use case and activity diagrams to model user interactions and system processes effectively. The development methodology adopted for this project is Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), which supports modular design and enhances system scalability. The system was built using JavaScript and React for frontend development, with Node.js handling server-side operations. PostgreSQL was used as the primary database solution, while Prisma served as the ORM tool for efficient database interaction. Additional tools such as Express.js, HTML, CSS, and GitHub were employed to streamline development and version control.ASMS now accommodates real-time access to academic schedules with features like automated timetable generation, mobile responsiveness, secure role-based authentication, and multi-format export options. The likely result of this project is a reliable, user-friendly, and scalable platform that improves institutional scheduling, reduces conflicts, and enhances communication among students, lecturers, and administrators. The system successfully achieves its objectives by delivering improved usability, accurate schedule management, and robust performance aligned with the academic structure and policies of Godfrey Okoye University.
