PRODUCTION OF DENTAL MODELLING WAX USING LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project work was aimed at improving on the local fabrication of
dental wax to enhance the efficiency and facilitates easy accessibility of
dental material.
Due to high cost of importation of dental modelling wax and its
nonavailability in time of need initiated the idea of fabricating dental
modelling wax locally of which it is then fabricated in Offa college of
health technology to serve as substitute for the imported ones. However
the faults of inadequate raw material, inadequate industrial equipment,
insufficient mixing equipment to help colour blend and the size of the wax
v
among other faults identified calls for an improvement on the locally
sourced materials which were tested fit and suitable, also adhering strictly
to the principles governing the uses of the dental wax for the purpose of
making wax pattern prosthesis in dental technology laboratory. To this
effect, a test was conducted which have the modelling wax sticky or adhere
to cast/model and stock teeth during denture and other prosthesis
fabrication.
Conclusively, it is certain that locally fabricated modelling wax can
be improved to meet both in structural profile and functionality like the
imported types.
