Abstract

The credibility of electoral processes in Nigeria has been persistently undermined by manual vote collation methods that are slow, prone to errors, and susceptible to manipulation. This study focuses on the design and development of a real-time vote tallying system aimed at improving electoral transparency, accuracy, and trust in Nigeria’s democratic process. The system was developed using widely available web technologies PHP, JavaScript, CSS, and MySQL to ensure affordability, accessibility, and real-time performance. The system enables secure vote entry, real-time transmission of results, role-based access control, and live dashboard visualization. It is designed to minimize result tampering, reduce collation delays, and improve public confidence in election outcomes. The project was tested using simulated election data, and results demonstrate improved efficiency, accuracy, and transparency compared to traditional manual systems.
