Abstract

ABSTRACT This study critically explores the role of e-governance in enhancing public service delivery in Nigeria by examining the impacts of digital governance frameworks on efficiency, transparency, accessibility, and accountability within the public sector. Adopting a qualitative-descriptive approach, the research draws on scholarly literature, institutional reports, and global best-practice cases to provide a comprehensive analysis. Findings reveal that e-governance adoption has led to tangible benefits such as reduced bureaucratic delays, decreased corruption opportunities, and enhanced citizen convenience. However, full implementation remains hindered by persistent challenges: inadequate ICT infrastructure, erratic power supply, limited rural internet penetration, low digital literacy among both citizens and civil servants, and escalating cyber security threats. These findings align with other studies that link ICT deficits and digital literacy gaps to reduced public service efficiency in Nigeria and other contexts.
