ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF MICROORGANISMS COLLECTED FROM DUMP SITES IN JOSEPH AYO BABALOLA UNIVERSITY, IKEJI- ARAKEJI
Abstract
Composting is a beneficial technique for creating a stabilized product that can be utilized as a source of nutrients, improving soil structure and offers the advantages of stimulating plant development. The highest bacterial load was sample B with 2.5 x 100 cfu/g and the least was Sample A 2.0. While the fungal load was very low and it ranges from 1.2 x 106 cfu/g and 1.6 x 10o cfu/g for both samples. Increase in physiochemical parameter was observed in almost all variable except in parameters like silt (34.46mg/I to 32.32mg/I) and Zn (1.23mg/I to 1.2 mg/I) which reduces after waste was added to the soil by the action of microorganisms present. This study reveled that the concentration of metal goes in this order; Mn > Mg > Pb > Ni > Cu > Zn.
