EVALUATION OF THE ROLE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST RELIGIOUS CRISIS IN DELTA STATE.
Abstract
This study critically evaluates the multifaceted role of electronic media in mitigating and resolving religious crises within Delta State, Nigeria. Focusing on a diverse range of platforms including radio, television, and online digital channels, the research examines how these media outlets contribute to conflict prevention, de-escalation, and post-crisis reconciliation. Key areas of investigation include the dissemination of factual information, promotion of interfaith dialogue, counter-narrative development against extremist ideologies, and the amplification of peace-building initiatives. The study also assesses potential challenges and limitations, such as the spread of misinformation, biased reporting, and accessibility issues in certain areas. Employing a qualitative approach, data will be gathered through content analysis of media broadcasts, interviews with religious leaders, media practitioners, community stakeholders, and victims of religious crises. The findings aim to provide insights into the effectiveness of current electronic media strategies and to offer recommendations for optimizing their potential in fostering religious harmony and stability in Delta State.
