Abstract

Abstract This study looked into the connection between members of the Nigerian Police Force's performance, job satisfaction, and organisational commitment. There were 300 participants in the sample, ranging in age from 18 to 55 (M = 35.00; SD = 8.60). Stratified random sampling technique were used. Data were collected using the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) by Mowday, Steers, and Porter (1979), the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) by Spector (1985), and performance appraisal ratings from the Nigerian Police Force’s human resources department. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis evaluated two hypotheses. Results demonstrated that organizational commitment and job satisfaction strongly impacted performance, with organizational commitment being a greater predictor. Performance was also highly influenced by rank and years of service. According to the study, raising work happiness and organizational commitment might help police personnel perform better. It emphasizes how crucial encouraging work conditions are. Research proposals were made to investigate other aspects impacting performance within the Nigerian Police Force, and limitations were deliberated.
