Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the role of ambassadors in shaping Nigeria’s diplomatic relations, with a focus on key appointments from 2015 to 2023. The research explores ambassadorial duties, the processes of appointment, and how ambassadors contribute to Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives. Through secondary data analysis, findings reveal that ambassadorial appointments significantly impact Nigeria's image and international cooperation. The study also highlights challenges such as political patronage, inadequate training, and limited funding. Recommendations are made to improve appointment processes and strengthen diplomatic capacity.
