LITHIUM EXPLORATION IN BANI COMMUNITY OF KAIMA LGA, PART OF SHEET 149NE, KWARA STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This study focuses on lithium exploration in Bani Community, Kaima Local Government Area (LGA), Kwara State, Nigeria, within Sheet 149NE. The objective was to evaluate the geological and geochemical characteristics of the area to determine its lithium mineralization potential. Field mapping, rock sampling, and laboratory geochemical analysis were conducted. The study area is underlain predominantly by Precambrian Basement Complex rocks, including granites, gneisses, and pegmatites. Pegmatitic intrusions were identified as potential hosts for lithium-bearing minerals such as spodumene and lepidolite. Geochemical results indicated anomalous lithium concentrations in selected samples. The findings suggest that the area has promising potential for lithium mineralization, warranting further detailed exploration.
