Abstract

ABSTRACT This study Analysis of food security among household in Auno Area, Borno State, Nigeria. Using primary data collected through structured questionnaires and secondary data from relevant literature, the research assessed the socio-economic characteristics of rice farmers, their food security status, and the challenges they face. The study also explored strategies adopted to address food insecurity. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis revealed that approximately 40% of the variation in food security is influenced by socio-economic factors such as age, marital status, educational level, farm size, income, and access to credit. Key findings highlighted that most farmers had access to credit facilities and extension services, inadequately, and that food was generally accessible but not always sufficient. Strategies such as improving existing food programs, reducing food wastage, planting drought-resistant crops, and implementing better disaster management practices were recommended to mitigate food insecurity. The study underscores the need for targeted policies, improved extension services, and socio-economic interventions to enhance food security among rice farmers in the region.
