THE ROLE OF MULTINATIONAL CORPORATION IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (A CASE STUDY OF UAC KADUNA BRANCH KADUNA STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research investigates the role of multinational corporations (MNCs) in the economic development of Nigeria, focusing specifically on the United Africa Company (UAC) Kaduna Branch. As global players, MNCs have been recognized for their significant impact on local economies through investments, job creation, technology transfer, and infrastructure development. This study seeks to analyze how UAC has contributed to the economic landscape of Kaduna State, considering both the positive and negative implications of its operations. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data. Primary data were gathered through structured interviews and surveys administered to UAC employees, local business owners, and community members. Secondary data were sourced from company reports, government publications, and existing literature on MNCs in Nigeria. The study examines key aspects such as employment generation, local sourcing of materials, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives undertaken by UAC in Kaduna.
