Abstract

This project presents the development of an Online Voting System specifically designed for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The traditional voting method used by the union has often been criticized for being time-consuming, prone to manipulation and lacking transparency. This study aims to provide a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly platform to conduct elections digitally. The system was developed using PHP for the server-side scripting and MySQL as the database management system. It enables registered members to vote securely from any internet-enabled device, reducing the need for physical presence and ensuring accessibility across various locations. Key features include user authentication, role-based access, real-time vote tallying, and administrative control over election processes. The implementation of this system addresses common issues such as voter impersonation, ballot tampering, and logistical delays. By leveraging web technologies, the platform enhances transparency, improves participation and ensures the integrity of the electoral process within the union. Testing and evaluation of the system demonstrated its effectiveness in meeting the core objectives of reliability, security and ease of use. The results suggest that the project can contribute to the growing need for digital transformation in organizational governance, and serves as a scalable model for other unions or associations seeking to modernize their electoral systems.
