Abstract

Abstract This study examined e-learning as a panacea to academic session accomplishment of secondary school students in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The study focused on the availability of e-learning facilities, the extent of utilization, its benefits and the challenges affecting its implementation. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population for the study consisted of senior secondary school students in Ondo West Local Government Area. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage. The findings revealed that e-learning facilities are not adequately available in most secondary schools and this affects effective utilization. The study also showed that e-learning improves students’ academic performance, enhances access to learning materials and promotes independent learning. However, inadequate funding, lack of trained personnel, poor power supply and limited access to internet facilities were identified as major challenges. The study concluded that e-learning plays a significant role in academic session accomplishment of secondary school students. It was recommended that government and school management should provide adequate e-learning facilities, train teachers and ensure stable power supply in schools.
