Abstract

ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) online family planning campaign among residents of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. It aimed to assess awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral changes resulting from exposure to JUTH’s digital campaign messages. Conducted in Bukuru Community, Jos South LGA, with a population of about 50,000, a sample of 381 respondents was selected, and 380 valid questionnaires analyzed. Guided by the Health Belief Model (HBM), the study found that exposure to JUTH’s campaign positively influenced perceptions and intentions toward contraceptive use. Findings showed that 98.9% of respondents were aware of family planning, 57.1% had heard about JUTH’s campaign, 87.6% adopted family planning methods, and 51.8% agreed the campaign improved attitudes and behaviors. However, religious beliefs (90.8%) and misconceptions (78.6%) remained major barriers. The study concluded that online health campaigns effectively enhance awareness, knowledge, and behavioral change regarding family planning in Nigeria.
