Abstract

This work investigates the potential integration of biomimicry in hotel building design in order to overcome sustainability challenges as well as enhance visitors' experience. Since the architecture of hotels is being subjected to environmental concerns for reducing its impact as well as keeping an eye on evolving traveller demand, biomimicry is an innovative approach. There are various approaches in nature that can be applied in hotel buildings in order to ensure environmental sustainability while not jeopardising profitability. The investigation examines design best practices in biomimicry in architecture, describing how nature-inspired design can yield more sustainable, more resilient, and more attractive types of hospitality architecture. For example, biomimetic design can optimise natural light and air circulation in hotels and resorts. The investigation aims to develop an architecture design system for the mainstream use of biomimicry in hospitality architecture with implementation recommendations for sustainable design. Ultimately, biomimicry will change the direction of hospitality design for more liveable, more sustainable environments.
