EFFECT OF NON-FINANCIAL INCENTIVES ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN AN ORGANIZATION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the Effect Of Non-Financial Incentives On Employee Performance In An Organization: A Study Of Triacta, Bauchi Branch, Nigeria. Given the increasing recognition that financial rewards alone are insufficient for maximizing employee motivation and performance, this research examines the role of non-monetary incentives such as job promotion, career development opportunities, and training programs. The study employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to assess employees' experiences, satisfaction levels, and perceptions of these non-monetary incentives. The research identifies several key areas where non-monetary incentives impact employee performance. Job promotion opportunities are found to significantly enhance job satisfaction and motivation, leading to improved performance outcomes. Similarly, career development programs and training initiatives are shown to contribute positively to employee engagement and productivity. The findings suggest that while financial rewards are important, they are not the sole drivers of employee performance. Instead, a well-rounded approach that includes robust non-monetary incentives is essential for fostering a motivated and high-performing workforce. This study provides valuable insights for organizations in emerging markets, particularly those in the public sector, by highlighting the importance of integrating non-monetary incentives into their reward systems. The research underscores the need for organizations to develop comprehensive human resource policies that address both financial and non-financial aspects of employee motivation. The implications of this study are significant for enhancing organizational performance, reducing employee turnover, and creating a more engaged and productive workforce. By contributing to the understanding of incentive systems in developing economies, this study offers practical recommendations for improving employee management and strategic human resource planning. The findings are intended to guide policymakers, organizational leaders, and human resource practitioners in designing effective reward strategies that support employee growth and organizational success.
