Abstract

The study investigated Point of Sale (POS) transactions and effective bank operation and customers’ satisfactions in Delta State. A survey was conducted from which primary data was drawn using semi structured questionnaire from money deposit banks, selected bank customers and Point of Sale (POS) operators in Agbor and Asaba metropolis in Delta State. A total of 150 questionnaires were administered and 130 returned on a semi- structured five scale liker type questions using judgmental sampling method because of the researcher ease of access and convenience. The data analysis was carried out using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression method implemented through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).24.0 (2025). The findings revealed that POS transactions offer a convenient alternative to traditional banking by allowing customers conduct financial activities outside of physical bank branches thereby offering an alternative to cash-based transactions and promoting the cashless policy drive in Nigeria. Their widespread adoption has fostered greater financial inclusion where more people are using digital payments, which is now a major force driving the adoption and delivery of digital banking services. It is recommendations that government and financial institution should collaborate to reduce transaction fee, enhance security protocol, invest in rural infrastructure, and updates of POS software, and finally there should be sensitizations of customers on the benefits of using POS.
