HERDSMEN-FARMERS CONFLICT IN NIGERIA: CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES AND GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
Abstract
This study examines the complex dynamics of herdsmen-farmers conflict in Nigeria, exploring its underlying causes, devastating consequences, and government responses. The research reveals that factors such as resource competition, climate change, and ethnic tensions have fueled violent clashes between herders and farmers, resulting in loss of lives, displacement, and economic devastation. The study evaluates the effectiveness of government interventions and proposes strategies for mitigating the conflict, promoting peaceful coexistence, and ensuring sustainable development in affected areas.
